Channel Nine‘s Danika Mason has announced she is expecting her first child with her partner, Liam Knight.

The Today show presenter revealed the exciting update on the breakfast program on Wednesday, surrounded by colleagues Sarah Abo, Tom Steinfort, Richard Wilkins, and Jayne Azzopardi.

Danika said she and Liam were overjoyed when they found out they were expecting a baby girl, who will arrive in December.

“We feel so honoured to be brought into your households every single morning, so when there’s news here, it’s nice to share it with you guys first before the rest of the world gets to hear about it,” Danika said to the Today audience.

“Off-season will be a little bit busier this year.”

The 35-year-old said she had experienced a bit of morning sickness during the early stages of the pregnancy but is glad this has passed.

“Everyone here at Nine has been so supportive when I’ve been vomiting on the way to work,” she said.

“It’s so funny, the moment that I knew I was pregnant, I had a chicken schnitzel craving.

“All I could think about was chicken schnitzel.”

She said her partner, Liam, is “over the moon” and is “so excited” to become a “girl dad”.

After sharing the update on social media, Danika and Liam were flooded with messages of support.

“Congratulations honey. You will make a fantastic mother,” wrote Channel 9 reporter Gabrielle Boyle.

Samantha Armytage said it was “fabulous news”, and Nine journalist Kate Creedon added their incoming baby was “lucky” to have Danika and Liam as her parents.

Danika isn’t the only Today show member expecting a baby.

Her co-host, Sarah Abo, is due to give birth to her first child in August.

Nine hasn’t yet revealed who will fill in for Sarah’s spot while she’s on maternity leave.

The network has also remained tight-lipped about who will take over Karl Stefanovic’s now-vacant spot after he left last week.

That means the Today show is set to have a very different lineup by the end of the year, with three coveted spots up for grabs.
