The why: Background story
For Dr. Ritasha Bhasin and Dr. Anuraj Kochhar, Care Dentistry is the next step in the journey of growing a life, a career, and a dream they began prior to coming to Canada. The husband-and-wife team first met in 2014 while practicing dentistry in New Delhi, India, where they owned two dental practices. Motivated by the opportunity to create an even brighter future for their growing family, they made the decision to move to Canada in 2019. Like many newcomers, the journey required patience, sacrifice, and perseverance. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 2022, they began searching for the ideal location to establish their next practice. While exploring Oakville, they discovered a future residential condominium community surrounded by parks that would be very attractive to young families. They decided to approach the developer directly about the empty construction site and eventually secured a ground floor unit that would ultimately become Care Dentistry.

The how: Strategic project planning
After securing 4000 sq/ft, Dr. Bhasin and Dr Kochhar made the strategic decision to initially build 2500 sq/ft, leaving room for future expansion. The building was completed in 2024, the unit closed in February 2025, and construction began that June. Then, in September 2025, life changed overnight. What first appeared as a simple illness became a neurological medical crisis that left Dr. Kochhar paralyzed and unable to speak. Doctors warned that he might never walk again. As he began a valiant journey to recovery, his wife, Dr. Bhasin, was left to singularly manage the entire construction project while supporting her husband’s rehabilitation and caring for their young son. Refusing to accept defeat, Dr. Kochhar approached rehabilitation with remarkable determination, while his wife involved him in certain clinic decisions by communicating from his hospital bed through eye movements and subtle gestures. Care Dentistry opened in February 2026, and by mid-March he had left the wheelchair behind. Their resilience, teamwork, and unwavering optimism became the true foundation of this practice.

The results: Technical design features
Care Dentistry was designed to feel boutique, calming, and deeply personal. The partners focused on creating a warm environment where families could feel comfortable and connected. The clinic includes five fully plumbed operatories, with three currently active. One future operatory has been transformed into a young children’s mini basketball court play area, while another serves as a kid’s lounge, reflecting their belief that dental visits should be a positive family experience. Throughout the clinic, natural textures, warm finishes, greenery, and thoughtful lighting create a welcoming atmosphere. Personal touches, including artwork created by their son, add genuine heart to the space. Behind the scenes, strategic planning shaped the clinic’s long-term functionality. To address a significant floor slab gradient, they raised the floor throughout the space, simplifying plumbing requirements, minimizing concrete coring, and preserving flexibility for a future secondary entrance. High quality materials, copper piping, rear delivery ADEC chairs, and efficient operatory design support a seamless patient experience.

The outcome: Practice success & community impact
Today, Care Dentistry symbolizes a heroic story of resilience, recovery, gratitude, and the power of community. As Dr. Kochhar continues his return to dentistry, he and Dr. Bhasin reflect deeply on the journey that brought them here. Their focus now is simple: providing exceptional care in an environment where patients genuinely feel welcomed, supported and valued. This summer, they will host their “Summer Smiles” community event featuring local schools, face painting, ice cream trucks, and neighbourhood vendors, creating a celebration centred on connection beyond healthcare. Patients frequently comment on the clinic’s hospitality, particularly the inviting coffee station where community members are welcome to stop in, even without an appointment. For the family behind Care Dentistry, the practice is more than a professional achievement. It’s a celebration of perseverance, healing, and a brighter future built together.
