Traffic diversions are in place in Swannanoa, Canterbury, after a person was seriously injured in a vehicle collision with a horse.

Shortly before 7pm, police were alerted to the crash on Tram Rd, near the intersection with Two Chain Rd.

One person was reportedly seriously injured.

Police are advising motorists
to avoid the area while traffic management is in place.
