Prince Harry has been summed up by an ex-royal staffer who has recalled fond memories of the Duke of Sussex.
Former royal gardener Jack Stooks, who worked at Highgrove, the private residence of King Charles and Queen Camilla in Gloucestershire, has opened up on his time with the Duke of Sussex.
The ex-royal staffer described Harry as one of his “favourites”, describing him as “really mischievous”.
“Another favourite for me was always Harry,” Mr Stooks said on behalf of OLBG, for the Daily Express.
“He was so much fun, and really mischievous. I really liked that side of him.
“I have always adored Harry and thought he was great. I would love to meet him now and have a chin-wag.”
Harry and Meghan will be in the UK between July 6 and July 10, primarily to attend the One Year To Go Invictus events in Birmingham.
It has been almost four years since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the UK together.
The couple also hope to bring their children Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, on the trip, but their attendance has yet to be confirmed.
Harry has said that the level of police protection offered by Britain has meant he was unable to bring his children in the past.
“The Duke continues to explore every available option to enable the visit to proceed safely and to give his children the opportunity to enjoy the UK,” his spokesman said earlier this week.
Harry and Meghan’s trip comes as a royal expert revealed the “difficult position” the Duke of Sussex has put the King in.
The Duke of Sussex’s willingness to open up in interviews and in his memoir Spare has led to the monarch feeing wary about his son’s impending visit.
“(Charles is) not a bad man. He’s not an uncaring man. He loves his son, but his son has put him in a very, very difficult position,” Rebecca English, royal editor at the Daily Mail, told the publication’s Palace Confidential podcast.
“He has betrayed a lot of family intimacies. I don’t want to use the word ‘secrets’, but it’s certainly intimacies.”
“There’s a very small circle of people (the Royal Family) can trust and once you’re in that circle of trust you remain in (it) and Harry has smashed that with a hammer,” Ms English added.
