Acclaimed artist Garth Ivan has taken on the coveted role from outgoing Fraser Taylor at the Beacon Arts Centre.
And it is shaping up to be a record breaking year for entries with more than 130 pieces of art set to be on display at the showcase, which is open to everyone.
Garth has worked closely with fine artist Ken McClymont to put the exhibition together over two floors of the centre.

Garth said: “The annual summer exhibition is one of the highlights of the Beacon’s exhibition calendar.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible creativity that exists across Inverclyde and to give artists of all ages the chance to exhibit their work in a professional gallery setting.
“This year’s exhibition reflects the diversity, talent and passion of our local creative community and we’re delighted to share it with visitors throughout the summer.”
Garth, who had two successful solo exhibitions himself last year, The Liturgy of The Moons and The Artists and Craftsmen of Inverclyde, says the scale of the collection is impressive.
He added: “We have entries from people from all walks of life with different degrees of experience.
“Our youngest contributor is eight years old.
“From emerging young talent to established local artists, the exhibition showcases the breadth, diversity and imagination that flourishs across Inverclyde.”
The exhibition opens today and celebrates the area’s rich creative community.
It runs until Saturday, August 22 with an artists reception on Thursday, July 9 from 5pm to 7pm.
The exhibition is free to visit during Beacon Arts Centre opening hours and offers visitors the chance to experience a wide range of artistic styles, mediums and perspectives while supporting local creative talent.
