After the arrest, police executed a search warrant and conducted a scene examination.
“As a result, we located and seized 50 rounds of ammunition,” Detective Sergeant Rahul Badri of the Waikato West CIB said.
“Further extensive enquiries were carried out today and we have successfully recovered the shotgun that was allegedly used during the incident.”
The man is set to appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow. He has been charged with committing a dangerous act with intent to injure, unlawfully possessing a firearm and unlawfully possessing ammunition.
“I am pleased we were able to take a firearm off the streets and hold this alleged offender to account – this isn’t just a positive outcome for the victim, but also for the wider Raglan community,” Badri said.
“This investigation involved significant effort by both frontline staff and detectives, and I would like to acknowledge their excellent work in bringing this incident to a quick resolution.”
