Our industry, our wildlife, and our charm are highlighted throughout the city through sculpture
From the archives of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library:
A sculpture is a three-dimensional object made using a sculpting process, including carving, casting, constructing, or modeling. A sculpture can be created using plaster, wood, stone, steel, and other materials. In the Sault, there are many examples of sculpture, acting as physical representations of the city’s historical and cultural significance. Examples can be found on the highway, downtown, on the waterfront, and in local parks.
Be it an oversized baseball at Strathclair, signifying the Sault’s athletes; a steel beam structure at the art gallery, signifying a balance between nature and industry; a glass structure recognizing the strong spirit of our community; or a playful hunter alongside the highway, sculptures in the city represents our locals. Our industry, our wildlife, and our charm are highlighted throughout the city through sculpture.
