CINCINNATI (WKRC) — One of Cincinnati’s longest-running artisan markets turned the first page in its new chapter.
Art on Vine launched its new summer residency at Elm Street Plaza, welcoming shoppers from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at 150 West Fifth Street. The free event featured more than 80 local artists, makers and small businesses, along with food trucks, drinks, family activities and green space designed for visitors to spend the afternoon downtown.
Organizers said the move to Elm Street Plaza was about creating more than just a shopping destination. They said they hope the centrally located public space will become a new Sunday tradition for families, couples and visitors looking to support local businesses while enjoying everything downtown has to offer.
The market arrived during a busy holiday weekend in Cincinnati, with thousands expected downtown for Fourth of July festivities and other attractions, including the final performances of The Lion King at the Aronoff Center.
Art on Vine has been connecting local creators with shoppers for 14 years. Since its founding, the market has been held at several Cincinnati locations, including Vine Street, Rhinegeist, Washington Park and Fountain Square, before settling into its new home at Elm Street Plaza.
Visitors could browse handmade art, jewelry, apparel and other locally crafted goods while enjoying food from Cincinnati-area food trucks. Families could also take advantage of the plaza’s splash pads and open lawn space.
Parking was available adjacent to the market at the 84.51 Garage, located at 120 W. Fifth St.
Following Sunday’s kickoff, Art on Vine will return to Elm Street Plaza on Aug. 9, Sept. 6 and Oct. 4 as part of its summer and fall residency.
