Chinese stocks’ recent momentum may taper by year-end as valuations stretch, market watchers say, clouding optimism that AI breakthroughs and support policies will drive a lasting rebound.

The benchmark CSI 300 Index will likely end the year at 4,675 points, according to the median estimate of 16 analysts and money managers who contributed forecasts in a Bloomberg survey. That suggests a modest 1.2% rise from Monday’s close, after a 17% rally year-to-date. Respondents also expect the pace to slow in 2026, with only a 5.5% gain by the end of next June, based on the informal poll conducted between Sept. 18 and Sept. 24.
