Whangārei port ship discovery: Police call in Defence Force bomb team

The New Zealand Defence Force bomb disposal team has been called to Whangārei after what is believed to be an old grenade was found aboard a ship.

Police said the item was discovered on a vessel at Port Rd this morning and would be removed by the Defence Force’s Explosive
Ordnance Disposal team.
