Hot favourite Autumn Glow will have to overcome the outside barrier if she’s to claim her first Group 1 win Saturday’s Epsom Handicap.
A field of just 14 has been declared for Saturday’s time-honoured $1.5 million Randwick mile.
This year will be the 160th running of the feature spring mile that prior to The Everest and Golden Eagle, was Sydney’s premier race of the spring carnival.
Hall Of Fame trainers Gai Waterhouse and Chris Waller have dominated the race over the past 30 years and this year Waterhouse is chasing her eighth winner with Fully Lit while her training partner Adrian Bott is after his first Epsom Handicap success.
Waller will saddle up two runners this year, dominant early favourite Autumn Glow and Lord Penman as he attempts to win his sixth Epsom Handicap.
Last year’s winner, Ceolwulf is the topweight in the race with 58kg while Pericles, the winner of the Tramway Stakes carries 57kg.
