Heavy rain in northern Hawke’s Bay may continue into Friday morning, and for this area the warning could be extended.
There was a low chance of upgrading to a red warning, MetService said.
It advised people that streams and rivers may rise rapidly and there could be surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions.
“Those in affected areas are advised to clear drains and gutters to prepare for heavy rain and avoid low-lying areas and drive cautiously.”
