P+S Technik has introduced HEXAMO, a dedicated mount system that enables Leitz HEKTOR Cine Prime lenses to be used on the ARRI ALEXA platform. The HEKTOR lenses were originally developed for modern mirrorless camera systems with short flange focal distances. As a result, a conventional adapter would place them too far from the sensor on an ALEXA body, preventing infinity focus. So let’s see how the HEXAMO works on ARRI ALEXA cameras.

The goal is to combine the image character of the Leitz HEKTOR series with the established ARRI ALEXA platform. According to P+S Technik, the HEKTOR lenses are known for smooth focus roll-off, organic rendering, and distinctive flares. For cinematographers, rental houses, and productions already working with ALEXA cameras, HEXAMO offers access to that look without moving to a mirrorless camera body.

This creates the flange depth required for the HEKTOR lenses.Lens interface conversion: Each HEKTOR lens receives a precision-machined three-part rear interface assembly. This replaces the original rear mount and forms the dedicated mechanical counterpart to the HEXAMO camera mount. After installation, every lens is calibrated to ensure accurate flange depth and reliable optical performance.Internal filter compatibility: According to P+S Technik, the system allows the HEKTOR lenses to reach infinity focus on ARRI ALEXA cameras while maintaining compatibility with the camera’s internal filter system.Locking mechanism: A red locking ring is designed to provide a rigid, play-free connection between camera and lens, including when using modern wireless FIZ systems on set.Price and availability
