Taylor Swift’s godmother duties have fallen by the wayside amid her fallout with Blake Lively.

Swift, 36, is godmother to Lively’s three daughters with Ryan Reynolds, but her once-close bond with Betty, 6; Inez, 9; and James, 11, has suffered in the wake of her and Lively’s friendship disintegrating. The couple also share a son, Olin, 3, but Reynolds confirmed to Deadline in 2024 that Swift is only godmother to his daughters.

“When Taylor’s friendship with Blake and Ryan ended, her role as an active godmother naturally faded too,” a source told Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, per a July 9 article on his Substack. “There wasn’t a falling out with the children. She simply isn’t part of their everyday lives anymore.”

Lively and Reynolds were not present when Swift married Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden on July 3, emphasizing how their friendship has shifted since they allegedly feuded over Swift’s involvement in Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni.

“Years ago they would have been front and center. Today, they’re no longer part of Taylor’s inner circle,” the insider added. “Taylor still has love for those kids. But relationships with children often depend on relationships with their parents. When the friendship ended, the connection naturally faded. It’s sad, but that’s the reality.”

On the day of Swift’s wedding, Lively and Reynolds were seen in upstate New York, giving the MSG wedding a wide berth. A source told Page Six that Lively didn’t get an invite because “Taylor’s in a different place now and she just wants to be around people she trusts and who bring her peace.”

In the past, Swift showed off her close bond with Lively and Reynolds’ kids when she announced the name of their third daughter by naming a song on her Folklore album “Betty.” The song’s lyrics also feature the names of Betty’s older sisters.

Swift and Lively reportedly fell out after their private text messages were exposed in court documents related to Lively and her It Ends With Us director’s legal battle. Baldoni’s legal team attempted to subpoena Swift in the lawsuit, but this was rejected.
