“For tradies, every dollar and every minute counts. PowerPass Pro Rewards is built to give something tangible back – whether that’s rewards they can reinvest in the job, or benefits that help keep their business moving day to day.
“We’ve got a large customer base, and we weren’t really satisfied with our current offering for the majority of customers. The change is a pretty significant one for us.”
Heinrich said Bunnings had tended to focus more on builders, but had recently shifted its focus towards the wider ecosystem of builders, trades and businesses.
Bunnings currently has more than 210,000 PowerPass members across New Zealand, with the PowerPass app downloaded more than 175,000 times.
Developed over the past year, PowerPass Pro introduces a new tiered rewards programme that rewards spending by eligible trade and business customers as their annual spend grows.
There are six tiers to the programme, starting with members, who spend less than $2000 a year at Bunnings, progressing incrementally up to the black tier for customers who spend more than $100,000 annually.
Eligible members can earn pro rewards dollars, access Bunnings merchandise, partner offers and business tools designed to help their businesses grow.
Bunnings has also partnered with several businesses through the refreshed scheme, including tiered fuel discounts with Mobil New Zealand, ranging from 10c off per litre to 15c, depending on the tier.
Mobil New Zealand lead country manager Wayne Ellary said the membership benefit offers practical savings for tradies on the move.
“We know fuel is a significant day-to-day cost for many tradies. Integrating within Bunnings PowerPass Pro Rewards allows us to provide meaningful value at the pump, helping customers keep their businesses moving.”
Members will also gain access to mobile and internet benefits with 2degrees.
2degrees chief business officer Andrew Fairgray said staying connected was essential for tradies managing customers, teams and projects on the go.
“We know that tradies rely on their phones, whether it’s managing jobs, organising teams or dealing with queries on the go, they demand and need reliable connectivity.
“We are really pleased to be able to collaborate with Bunnings to offer great-value mobile and broadband plans that support PowerPass Pro members every day.”
In addition to tier-based rewards, eligible members can access a range of exclusive offers from business partners, including Pitstop, LifeCare, Xero and MYOB.
Members will also continue to benefit from enhanced digital account management tools and business support services through the PowerPass app, including self-checkout, e-receipts and transaction tracking.
Heinrich said the refreshed programme was in response to years of customer feedback requesting offers for those with long-term relationships with the brand.
