The northbound lanes of Transmission Gully have been closed near the Wainui Saddle after a car went up in flames.
Emergency services were notified after 8.20am there was a car fire on the State Highway 1 route just before Paekākāriki.

Police confirmed no injuries were reported.
Motorists have been
told to avoid the area and expect delays.
