The company also showcased the Acunex VarioMax and VarioMax Toric lenses. The Vario Max is designed to deliver distance, intermediate and functional near vision.
Sonderegger said the lenses had proven particularly attractive for patients with demanding visual requirements.
“The C-loop configuration is good for very demanding patients that rely on their vision for critical tasks, like outdoor activities like boating, etc. where glasses can’t be worn,” he said.
Device Technologies also highlighted planning technologies designed to support lens selection. Using corneal topographers/aberrometers, surgeons can assess ocular anatomy and select the most appropriate lens for individual patients.
According to Sonderegger, the combination of familiar lens handling characteristics and established EDOF optics offers surgeons another option for patients seeking greater spectacle independence without the photic phenomena associated with some multifocal designs.
