Police were called to the rural property on Dartmoor Rd about 2.20am on Wednesday.

A man has been charged with burglary after 200 litres of fuel was stolen from a Hawke’s Bay orchard.

Police were called to the rural property on Dartmoor Rd about 2.20am on Wednesday.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Phil Sayers, of the Hawke’s Bay CIB, said the property owner
witnessed, through their live CCTV footage, a man stealing fuel from a tank, before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Sayers said police watched the footage, and were able to identify the vehicle’s registration number, despite what they said appeared to be an attempt to obscure it.

The vehicle was found on Wednesday afternoon, and police recovered about 60 litres of stolen fuel.
