BEMIDJI — Watermark Art Center and the family and friends of local artist Paula Swenson invite the public to a gallery talk and closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at 505 Bemidji Ave. N.

Swenson passed away this year, and her tribute exhibit, “River of Time – Celebrating the Work of Paula Swenson,” is on display at Watermark through July 25. The exhibit contains work from family/private collections, most that have never been previously shown.

“Paula enjoyed opening young minds to the vast world of art,” a family member shared in a release. “She encouraged it. She planted it and nurtured it. She grew art into souls like flowers in a garden.”

The event is free to attend.

Our newsroom sometimes reports stories under the byline “Pioneer Staff Report.” This byline is used when reporters rewrite basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as an email or press release that requires little or no reporting.

Other times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
