Meghan Markle was criticised by a US political figure for her Emmy nomination. The Duchess of Sussex earned her first Daytime Emmy nomination for her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.
Its first season launched on Netflix in 2025 and coincided with the unveiling of her lifestyle brand As Ever, with her first products regularly promoted throughout the show. Nominated in the outstanding lifestyle programme category, the series will compete against NBC’s George to the Rescue, Hallmark’s The Motherhood, The Wizard of Paws and A Different Breed. Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on October 30.
Meghan’s nomination has sparked backlash from various royal watchers and fans, and now, a new critic has been added to the list.
Katie Miller, a political advisor who has served in various high-level roles across two presidential administrations, including as communications director for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), press secretary for Vice President Mike Pence, and spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, called the nominations “rigged”.
She said on X after sharing the news about the duchess’s nomination: “Further proof the Emmys are rigged.
“Emmys used to signal talent, hard work and entertainment — not empty virtue signalling.”
There is currently no evidence of impropriety in the Emmy’s nominations process. The Daily Express has approached organisers for comment.
Across its two seasons, Meghan’s show featured guest appearances from Mindy Kaling, Tan France and Chrissy Teigen, with episodes focusing on gardening, cooking and other lifestyle topics.
Elsewhere, The Young And The Restless led the daytime drama field with 18 nominations, followed by CBS’s Beyond The Gates with 15 and General Hospital with 13.
Actress Drew Barrymore and singer Kelly Clarkson will vie for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series alongside The View, Live With Kelly And Mark, Today with Jenna And Friends and 3rd Hour Of Today.
