Users attempting to access Facebook are being faced with the message: “Account Temporarily Unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.”
The platform was restored for some users around an hour and a half later.
Many using Instagram started experiencing issues connecting with the platform around 8.35pm.
Ynet global news reported the issue was widespread with thousands of users unable to access Meta’s platforms.
It said more than 4000 users had reported issues including failed logins, frozen feeds and disrupted messaging.

Downdetector reported issues across the globe, with users noticing problems with Facebook since 7.55pm.
It said WhatsApp was also affected by the outage.
One user in Australia said they had found Facebook was “playing up” this morning in Sydney.
Another said they were unable to upload any stories on Instagram. However, the platform appears to be working in New Zealand.
