Huawei’s former smartphone subsidiary, Honor, has posted a meme on social media that is going viral, showing a tombstone with “ONEPLUS” marked on it and captioned “Too soon?” taking a jab at the sunsetting phone maker.

Honor’s humorous post follows OnePlus’s decision to exit two key markets – the US and Europe. The rumors of this move have been swirling for months, which turned into an official announcement last week.

“After thorough evaluation, OnePlus has decided to conclude product rollouts in Europe and North America,” wrote OnePlus. However, the firm confirmed that its business will remain as usual in markets like China and India.

This is highly influenced by its declining sales in both of these markets. On the other hand, the changing global industry landscape, politics, and supply chain have also made the situation worse for maintaining OnePlus’ business.

OnePlus started its journey as a mid-range Android smartphone company, which gained popularity among new users. However, tough competition from market giants like Samsung and Google has made things uneasy.

This move fits perfectly into its parent company Oppo’s playbook, and focusing on a limited market would keep its subsidiary from taking further losses.

OnePlus has announced that its devices will keep receiving software updates, including security patches and OS upgrades, through Oppo’s software support and after-sales services. The company will keep its customer service channels and support for standard warranty.

“It has been an honor to share this journey with you. Thank you for your trust, your passion, and for being an essential part of the products we have built together.” OnePlus bids farewell to its customers.
