A police dog unit was deployed after the driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, eventually being arrested just before 4pm.
He was assessed by ambulance staff at the scene after being bitten by a police dog.
The driver will face a range of charges tomorrow.
A passenger was also taken into custody at the scene of the abandoned vehicle.
