Benson Boone and his girlfriend of three years, Maggie Thurmon, reportedly broke up earlier this month—and it seems like the influencer is finally breaking her silence on the split. On September 29, Maggie posted on her book club Instagram account, revealing that she had been feeling “sad” and “overthinking” too much to pick up a book amid her rumored split with Benson.
“Something happened, and I am now touching grass at my parents’ house in Georgia,” she said in the clip, where she admitted she wasn’t up for putting her nose to a book.
She continued, “I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this—I’ve been struggling to pick up a book because I feel like, now, whenever I pick up a book, I can’t stop thinking. Like, the things that are currently making me sad, the things I’m overthinking, the things I, like, can’t get out of my brain—I haven’t been able to push them aside long enough to get into a story.”
Maggie first started posting to her Bookstagram on August 30, nearly two weeks before reports of her breakup with Benson started surfacing. Her confession came a week after she shared a get-ready-with-me video for a girls’ night on September 26.
As for Benson, it appears he hinted at their breakup during the Nashville stop on his American Heart Tour. Two days before reports surfaced, Benson got candid about his feelings on stage before performing “In the Stars” on September 9.
“Sometimes, people leave your life. Whether it’s the right thing or the wrong thing. And it is always hard, always, every single time. And it sucks. And it sucks to sit in it, and it sucks to be sad about it, and it sucks to feel that so hard sometimes,” he said. “But it’s okay, it’s life. It happens. And as terrible as it is, there’s always something or someone who can pull you out of it.”
On September 11, a source confirmed to TMZ that Benson and Maggie “are no longer together, though it’s unclear what led to the split.” Neither of them has publicly confirmed their breakup at this time, but Maggie’s post may have hinted that their “beautiful thing” has come to an end.
