Art gallery looking for Indigenous youth to take part in exhibition

Led by local artist Lucia Laford, Indigenous Voices workshops offer free materials while supporting creative expression and cultural connection for Indigenous youth

Since May, the AGA has proudly offered Indigenous Voices, a series of free educational art workshops designed for Indigenous youth. Led by local artist and AGA staff member Lucia Laford, the program provides opportunities for creative expression, artistic skill development, and cultural connection. Indigenous Voices is generously supported by the CN Community Investment Fund. All supplies and snacks are offered free of charge.

It’s not too late to join us. This is an open call for all Indigenous youth to participate in the upcoming exhibition.

Indigenous Voices will conclude on Sept. 30 with the opening of an exhibition showcasing artwork created by Indigenous youth.

A detailed schedule of upcoming workshops is available on the AGA’s website and social media platforms. The final workshop will take place on Aug. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m.

We invite all Indigenous youth to take part in this unique opportunity. If you have already started an artwork but have not yet finished it, bring it to the gallery to complete during one of the workshops and have it included in the exhibition. We welcome artwork in all mediums, techniques, and themes, as we hope to create an exhibition that reflects the diversity of Indigenous youth and their artistic expression.

Drop off your artwork and be part of this unique exhibition at the AGA. The exhibition opening, held on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, will celebrate the creativity, talent, and artistic achievements of Indigenous youth in our community.
