The European Space Agency (ESA) is pleased to announce a collaboration with JCLattès for the publication of the first book of ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot. Scheduled for release in early 2027, the book will retrace the remarkable journey of the second French woman to fly to space and offer a unique insight into her training and first mission aboard the International Space Station.

The European Space Agency is pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot’s first book by JCLattès. The book is being announced while Sophie is carrying out her εpsilon mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

The book will be released in early 2027 and will tell the story of Sophie Adenot’s remarkable journey. Told as an adventure story, this official biography will give readers the opportunity to discover the many stages that led her to space, as well as the human, technical and operational challenges involved in preparing for a long-duration mission aboard the Space Station. It will provide a unique perspective on her experience as a European astronaut.

Selected as part of ESA’s 2022 astronaut class, Sophie Adenot became the second French woman to travel to space, following Claudie Haigneré’s historic mission in 1996. Sophie Adenot began her basic training in April 2023 and earned her astronaut certification at ESA’s European Astronaut Centre in April 2024, making her eligible for spaceflight assignments. Just one month later, in May 2024, she was assigned to her first long-duration mission, marking an important milestone for European space exploration and for France’s presence in space.

This publication is the astronaut’s first official and authorized book. It will allow readers to gain a deeper understanding of her journey, motivations and commitments, while highlighting a new generation of European explorers who are helping elevate Europe’s future through space.

Further information about the book, including its title and publication date, will be announced at a later stage.
