Harrisburg sculpture carved out of storm-damaged tree destroyed again in July storms

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — A sculpture in Harrisburg that was first created out of a tree damaged by a storm recently met the same fate.

City officials confirmed Friday that the sculpture, which sat along Front Street, suffered extensive damages from recent stormy weather.

Honoring the region’s Native American Heritage, the “First River School” sculpture was carved during the Kipona Festival in 2013.

The city said their public works department has started the process of finding a new tree to carve and replace the old one.

A timeline for that replacement has not been released.
