Meghan could be seen on a sun lounger beside a pool, with the background showing a man and woman who have a striking resemblance to Charles Spencer and his new wife, Cat Jarman. The Sussexes visited the UK briefly during Prince Harry’s five-day visit earlier this month. But they also appeared to have spent time in their home in Portugal.
One picture featured a wall in a restaurant with menus in Portuguese and in another, Meghan was seen walking through what appears to be a homeware shop.
Now, a royal expert has claimed the snaps show that the Sussexes still have a close relationship with Harry’s royal cousin, Princess Eugenie.
Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have a home in Portugal, close to where the Sussexes live.
Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Mail: “This trip clearly signals that the couples remain close.
“We have known that Harry and Meghan and Eugenie and her husband Jack have been close for years. It will be interesting to see how they intend to develop this friendship.”
Mr Fitzwilliams added that the close relationship between the Sussexes and the Brooksbanks could lead to more joint visits to Britain in the future but without any royal appearances at Sandringham and Balmoral.
He said: “It might lead to a ‘faux royal’ tour of an EU country following their trips to Nigeria and Colombia. It will certainly involve their children, and we may see photos of Archie and Lili with Eugenie and Jack in the future.
“Now we know that Harry and Meghan have a base in Europe, their exile in California is far less distant.”
During their visit to the UK the duke and duchess took their children to see the King for the first time in four years at his Highgrove home.
