BEMIDJI — Lakeland PBS will host an exclusive Bob Ross Painting Night on Thursday, Aug. 20, at The Loft Event Center, 116 Fourth St. NW, floor 3.
“Decades after the legendary Bob Ross last stepped out of the television studio, his message of stress-free creativity and ‘happy accidents’ remains a cultural phenomenon,” a release said. “Now, through a rare alignment with the Bob Ross Company, Lakeland PBS is giving northern Minnesota residents a once-in-a-lifetime chance to step past the TV screen and onto the canvas with the man carrying on Bob’s iconic legacy.”
This interactive workshop will be led by national PBS talent Nicholas Hankins, a certified Bob Ross instructor and host of the acclaimed series, “The Joy of Painting with Nicholas Hankins: Bob Ross’ Unfinished Season.”
“For Hankins, the journey to becoming the face of the modern Bob Ross franchise is deeply rooted in public television — the very medium that introduced millions to the wet-on-wet painting technique,” the release said. “This upcoming event represents a full-circle moment, connecting national public television talent directly with the local viewers and stations that keep public broadcasting alive.”
The workshop invites participants of all skill levels to recreate a classic Bob Ross masterpiece.
Tickets are $150 per person and includes all professional painting supplies, take-home canvas and a “Joy of Painting” book. All ticket proceeds will benefit Lakeland PBS’ educational, news and cultural programming.
“It is a rare night where local art, national television history and community support intersect,” the release said.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the class starting at 6 p.m. Following the session, Hankins will host an exclusive book-signing for attendees.
