Huawei could make some changes in launching its 2026 Mate smartphones. A new piece of information suggests that the company could hold two launch events in September, unveiling the Huawei Mate XT 2 in early weeks, while the Mate 90 later.
Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation noted that Huawei will conduct two grand-scale launch events in September, where the Mate XT 2 triple-foldable will debut in the early days of the month, while the annual flagship could show up in late September.
Mate 90 series has been in the news for launching sooner than expected this year. Instead of becoming official in November, the flagship will show up two months earlier.
Further details mentioned that the tech giant could unveil both Mate lineups in the same month. The particular approach was speculated as a game-changing move against Apple’s 2026 creations, combined with its first iPhone Ultra foldable.
Apple is also in the news to launch new-gen iPhone Pro models, skipping the vanilla version, and a wide foldable. To rival this strategy and remain in the talks throughout the month, Huawei is working with a new “two launch events” plan.
Per the latest leak, the company could keep a space between the top-grade smartphone series launches. Based on the latest news and previous timelines, it looks like the Mate XT 2 tri-fold could debut before or on September 10.
