Zendaya is revealing how her husband and Spider-Man: Brand New Day co-star Tom Holland is like his on-screen counterpart, Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man.

During a joint July 2026 interview with InStyle Germany, Zendaya, who plays Michelle Jones “MJ” Watson, and Holland were asked to share what they have in common with their respective Spider-Man characters. Zendaya replied that Holland and Spider-Man both have “optimism.”

“I think you are a very positive person,” said Zendaya to Holland. “You do always bring that positive energy wherever you go. And you’re always like, ‘We can do this.’ Like, no matter how you’re feeling, ‘we’re going to get through it. We’re going to get it done. It’s going to be great.'”

Zendaya went on to say that Holland will often say, “Tomorrow’s a brand new day” when his day isn’t going the way he would like.

Holland made similar comments about Zendaya. He said that unlike MJ, she isn’t “a pessimist in any way, shape, or form.” When Zendaya replied that she wasn’t sure if that was the case, Holland clarified that “there are times when you can focus on the negative, but most of the time you’re a really positive, optimistic person.”

Tom Holland Opened Up About Co-Starring With Zendaya

During a July 2026 interview with E! News, Holland opened up about co-starring with Zendaya in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as well as The Odyssey(2026), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). According to Holland, Zendaya “raises the game,” no matter what set she’s on.

“I’ve seen a lot of people say that about her. She’s the type of actress where every scene is better when she’s in it. She raises the stakes for everyone. She’s truthful in every decision she makes as an actress. And anytime that I get to share the screen with her, I’m very lucky,” said Holland during the E! News interview.

While speaking to the publication, Holland also shared what he most appreciates about starring in the MCU Spider-Man films.

“I mean, beyond the experiences, the connections with people, my relationships, the opportunity as it’s presented in my career, the ability to collaborate with some of the best artists around the world and to tell stories that really mean something on the biggest stage possible is such a gift,” said Holland.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day premieres on July 31.
