The Kansas Association of Broadcasters’ annual awards for excellence in broadcasting have honored radio’s best in the Sunflower State in 2026, with Station of the Year awards given to Wichita State University news/talk KMUW (89.1) Wichita (large market), KCD Enterprises news/talk KGGF-AM (690) Coffeyville (medium), and Kansas Broadcast Company’s “RockIt 102.5” KLOE Goodland (small).
Audacy won one of three KAB Awards, including Best Morning Show, Large Market for country “106.5 The Wolf” WDAF Kansas City’s “Jenny and Jagger in the Morning.” Audacy also took home the Large Market Sports Play-by-Play award for “Wichita State Double Overtime Win” with Mike Kennedy calling the plays for basketball’s WSU Shockers on classic hits KEYN (103.5) Wichita, while rhythmic CHR “Power 93.5” KDGS Wichita’s Zeb Campbell won for DJ Personality Aircheck.
Eagle Radio took home eight awards, with Best Morning Show, Medium Market going to classic hits KAYS (1400 AM/94.3 FM on K232FJ) Hays’ Jeff Leiker, host of the “The Morning Blend.” Among Eagle Radio’s other KAB awards were: first place in Complete Sportscast to hot AC “Mix 1033” KJLS Hays’ 24-year voice of the Fort Hays State University Tigers, Gerard Wellbrock; and first for Special Program, an interview with Spin Doctors, also given to KAYS’ Leiker.
The small market Best Morning Show award was given to Shannon Towns and Evan Wedel for “Mornings with Shannon and Evan” on Eagle Media “Eagle Country 100.7” KHOK Great Bend.
