Huawei is seemingly planning a major upgrade for its future mid-range phones: active cooling technology. The new solution will likely show up with the Mate 90 series and may reach cost-effective handsets by next year to elevate their performance.
Weibo leaker @SmartPikachu noted that after the flagship phones like the Mate 90 series, Huawei could expand active cooling technology to its mid-range lineup.
The accuracy of the leak is still doubtful. However, if this happens, it would be the first time the company offers a significant cooling upgrade to models other than its flagships.
So far, Huawei’s mid-range smartphone line relies on passive cooling parts such as vapor chambers, graphite layers, or graphene sheets that are used to absorb heat during intense tasks and spread it evenly across the phone’s back.
Although active cooling is different and more efficient. Unlike passive ones with “no moving parts”, active cooling technologies require moving parts like a built-in fan or micro-pump that force heat out of the smartphone instead of just spreading it.

The extra hardware implementation inside the phone works to remove the heat more effectively. As a result, the phone remains cool during high-end tasks like video shooting, gaming, or working on high-quality applications.
Huawei used such tech with the Mate 80 Pro Max WIND EDITION for the first time in the form of a built-in cooling fan. The device debuted in March this year and claimed to deliver better performance than other Mate siblings.

Now the company is planning to continue this tech usage for its flagship Mate 90 series alongside introducing it to the pocket-friendly handsets. This would be a dynamic approach as one doesn’t have to pay a premium price to get a similar experience.
