“Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing, and the death will be referred to the coroner.”
According to NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, the “serious crash” occurred on State Highway 2 north of the intersection with Te Aute Trust Rd, near Te Hauke settlement.
Traffic was disrupted for about an hour as emergency services attended the crash site.
The crash happened north of the scene of a fatal single-vehicle crash on State Highway 2 last Saturday.
That crash was initially reported north of Ōtāne between College and Drumpeel Rds in Central Hawke’s Bay about 3.25pm.
One person died at the scene and two others were seriously injured.
