A person has died after being found unresponsive in a waterway in the Auckland suburb of Mt Wellington this afternoon.

Police were called to Panama Rd about 4.20pm following reports from the public of a person in the water.

The person was pronounced dead shortly after, police said in a
statement to the Herald.

The death will be referred to the coroner, a police spokesperson added.
