Large-scale cardboard installation ‘explores the quiet imprisonment of being unable to move forward’
Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario presents Sudbury artist Tarun Godara’s exhibit No Exit from Aug. 14 to Sept. 17.
The exhibit’s opening takes place at 5 p.m. Aug. 14 at Place des Arts.
“A large-scale cardboard installation built entirely from recycled materials, Limbo explores the quiet imprisonment of being unable to move forward,” said the exhibit’s description.
“Inspired by the artist’s own experience, the work reflects the emotional weight of feeling trapped in circumstances, relationships, or places that seem impossible to escape.
“Experiences that many can relate to. Constructed from discarded materials, the sculpture embodies resilience amid stagnation — a life pieced together while waiting for change that has yet to arrive. There may or may not be a light at the end of the tunnel here, but the determination to escape one day does exist.”
Godara is an international artist based in Sudbury.
Working across a range of mediums, styles, and techniques, his practice explores the complexities of human existence through themes of identity, personal experience, and emotional resilience.
His work invites viewers to reflect on the shared realities of the human condition.
