Theuma said he was haunted by the murder and particularly affected by reminders that Daphne Caruana Galizia was the mother of three children.
The court heard that Theuma has since been diagnosed with mixed anxiety disorder and is taking antidepressants and other prescribed medication. Doctors also said his voice was permanently affected after he slit his vocal cords, but noted that his symptoms are now under control.
The psychiatrists concluded that Theuma is not delusional or psychotic, has no cognitive impairment and is fit to testify, although they noted he may become fatigued during lengthy court sittings.
