Braydon Ennor – who plays as a wing and centre for the Crusaders and Canterbury provincial rugby – and several Western Force players also joined in on conveying their best wishes.
Before his international career, Bridge’s rise to prominence began nearly a decade ago in the red-and-black Crusaders jersey, where he played 82 games and scored 37 tries over six seasons.
During that time, the Crusaders secured four consecutive Super Rugby titles, as well as the local Super Rugby Aotearoa championships.
His domestic form translated into 19 test caps for the All Blacks between 2018 and 2021, during which he scored 12 tries.
However, after falling out of favour with national selectors, Bridge signed with French Top 14 club Montpellier in 2022, admitting his decision was influenced by the unlikelihood of making the 2023 World Cup squad.
The long-time couple moved to Perth in 2025 after Bridge signed a two-year deal with Super Rugby Pacific team Western Force, with fellow Kiwi and head coach Simon Cron describing him as an “amazing talent” who would bring invaluable professional experience to the team.
Having grown up in Gisborne and boarding at Lindisfarne College in Hastings, Bridge returned to Hawke’s Bay in March with the Force to take part in a sentimental “homecoming” match against the Hurricanes.
Bridge is currently committed to the Western Force through the end of the 2027 season.
