Haupt Racing Team ran a Ford Mustang GT3 at the Bathurst 12 Hour in collaboration with Triple Eight.
Australia’s Multimatic distributor Miedecke Motorsport and Melbourne Performance Centre are set to collaborate on the international effort.
Miedecke Motorsport is responsible for the importation and distribution of Mustang GT3 and GT4 in Australia.
MPC has long run Audi machinery Down Under, including the R8 with Brad Schumacher and Broc Feeney in GT World Challenge Australia.
It is believed a car is on its way from Australia to Japan to contest the Suzuka 1000km next month as part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
There is a logical link between Miedecke Motorsport and Melbourne Performance Centre, which both operate out of the same Victorian workshop.
It is believed the effort is being supported by Ford Racing.
Speedcafe understands the car is likely to return to Australia with a view to being used for next year’s Bathurst 12 Hour.
Speedcafe sought comment from Ford but had not received a response at the time of writing. An announcement is expected soon.
Although Supercars star Broc Feeney has harboured desires to make more starts internationally with Ford, he will not be part of the Mustang driver line-up.
That’s due to a clash with the first leg of the Supercars Enduro Cup, which begins with The Bend 500 on the same weekend.
It’s believed the Miedecke Motorsports/Melbourne Performance Centre entry will be an all-pro line-up in any case.
Earlier this year, Haupt Racing Team and Triple Eight Race Engineering collaborated on an ill-fated entry in the Bathurst 12 Hour, which ended abruptly when Christopher Mies hit a kangaroo in the early hours of Sunday morning.
