Ballentynes Fashion Central has announced it is closing down after operating more than 50 years.

The clothing chain’s 23 stores will be closing down progressively from next Saturday.

“On behalf of the Ballentyne family – including our incredible team of staff in the stores and in our warehouse, we would
like to thank you for your support and shopping with us over the years,” a notice on the company’s website reads.

Thirteen stores will close completely, with 10 reopening as Caroline Eve Fashion.

The stores that will reopen, listed on the company website, will be in Blenheim, Richmond, Whanganui, Feilding, Palmerston North, Paraparaumu, Hāwera, Levin, Lower Hutt and Masterton.
