Martha Stewart hasn’t been shy in sharing her thoughts and feelings on Meghan Markle’s entrance into the lifestyle guru space, and in a recent interview with People, she delivered a new verdict on With Love, Meghan. “If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show,” Stewart said. “It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.”
It’s not her first time commenting on Meghan’s endeavors. “Meghan, I don’t really know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about,” Stewart said last summer. “Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important.”
Meghan had previously said she was “flattered” to be compared to lifestyle gurus Gwyneth Paltrow and Martha Stewart. “Those are incredibly successful business women, so I don’t take that lightly. That means a lot if there’s any comparison made in that regard.” With Love, Meghan recently earned a Daytime Emmy nomination, but the show has not yet been renewed for a third season. In March, a spokesperson for the Sussexes said that “With Love, Meghan will continue as seasonal specials,” but no news yet on when the next one could premiere.
Elsewhere in the People cover story, Stewart revealed that she and Meghan recently attended the same dinner. “We were both guests at a dinner party in California. And she had just gotten back from the palace. I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it.” Stewart is referring to the Sussex family’s July trip to the UK, where they saw King Charles at Highgrove House, not Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle. It’s unclear where or when the dinner took place.
