A teenager who ran away from home after an argument with her mother, prompting police to issue an amber alert, has been found.

Police earlier said the barefoot and lightly clad 15-year-old had disappeared into an area of bush in New Plymouth around midnight and was ill-equipped for a night
outdoors.

“The young person had an argument with mum and ran into the back bush of Hobart Drive. Despite extensive search by police and the family, she has not been located,” Police said in the alert issued at 4.45am today.

Police confirmed she had been found to RNZ around 7am.
