If you’re as big a fan of e-ink displays as I am, you’ll likely share my desire to see people create e-ink versions of common gadgets. As such, when I saw that someone had created their own e-ink watch, I knew I had to check it out. Not only does this watch come with over 20 faces, but the creator has stated that they hope to get the source code and STL files uploaded soon.

Over on a subreddit dedicated to e-ink projects, user Nav-Tech showed off what they’ve been working on. They used the Waveshare ESP32-S3-ePaper-1.54 DevBoard to get the job done and drew on design choices from their Pebble watch to set up custom apps. They had to tweak some elements to best fit the e-ink display, but from the images above, I think they did an excellent job.
Right now, their watch has over 20 different faces. It includes an alarm, a Pomodoro timer, an e-reader, a dice roller, a weather app, and the ability to record voice memos, to name a few. They’re currently working on a way to add an offline version of Wikipedia and a vibration motor to the watch, which would be amazing to see.
For the time being, Nav-Tech hasn’t given away the source code or the blueprints on how to make your own. However, in the comments for their thread, they did say they’re in the middle of setting up a Ko-Fi for their project that provides all the files used, so keep an eye on their feed for more information.
