Police have cordoned off part of central Tauranga as they respond to an incident this afternoon.
A police spokesperson said officers were called to First Ave about 4.35pm and remained at the scene.
Cordons were in place on First Ave while the incident was ongoing.
“There is no threat to public safety, however Police advise the public to avoid the area.”
A reporter at the scene said access to First Ave from Cameron Rd had been blocked and observed officers turning people away.
A marked police vehicle was outside Farmers, while an ambulance was parked behind the AA building on First Ave.
