That contrasted with the polar blast last week, when areas across Northland experienced near-freezing temperatures in the coldest morning of the year.
Marshall encouraged people to keep an eye on the forecast and take precautions should the watch be upgraded to a warning.
That included clearing gutters and taking alternative routes on slippery or flood-prone surfaces, she said.
