“But we’ll have a bit of a catch-up to clarify all of that.
“It may be a little bit of settling down for some areas. The system is charged up but you still have the odd airlock.
“Some families might be having problems with their sewage systems. So that’s why we’re following up how people are reacting to the water coming on with their systems not being able to flush loos.
“There might be some residue issues there but, apart from that, I think it’s good to go.”
Businesses were reopening, and classes at Ruapehu College and Ohakune Primary School have resumed.
A Ruapehu Holiday Park spokesperson told the Chronicle its water was back on.
Water bottle supplies at six locations would not be replenished once exhausted, the council said.
However, water would still be available from a tanker and in bottles from the council office at 38 Ayr St.
