Dawn and Billy Fletcher (Olivia Bromley and Jay Kontzle) have outlined their plan to leave Emmerdale.
This is despite her forthcoming wedding to millionaire Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), who is already suspicious of something happening between them.
He knows that the two shared a brief kiss, but is reluctant to accept that she would betray his trust with their wedding on the horizon.
Just hours after Joe found out, Billy was brutally attacked and upon arrival at hospital, was put into a coma. Caleb Miligan (William Ash) reckoned that Joe’s discovery was a motive for committing the crime and had a quiet word with the investigating officer, which led to his arrest.
Ultimately, there was no evidence to support the belief that he was responsible, and he was allowed to leave custody.

Caleb, however, has continued on his plot against Joe and is now trying to help Dawn and Billy leave the country.
He’s even decided to conceal the true identity of the person who attacked Billy – Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) – in the hope the attention would turn back towards Joe.

In today’s episode, with Billy still hospitalised, Caleb and wife Ruby (Beth Cordingly) paid him and Dawn a visit to outline some potential places to move to.
Dawn suggested Spain, saying that she’d already found specialist medical care for their son Evan, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia after birth.
Caleb assured that he could sort new identities and passports for them both, and for their children, but Billy began to have reservations over the situation.

Although it was his idea, he was now fearful of being caught. Ruby asserted that if she had any doubts about it working, she wouldn’t be recommending it.
Suddenly, Joe appeared at the door, and they were forced to shut down the conversation.
Later, when he finally departed, Billy came to the realisation that it was now or never and that he couldn’t bear to see Joe lurking around them any longer. He told Dawn to contact Ruby and tell her that they were going.
