Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) is scrambling to protect granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) in Emmerdale.
Earlier this week, after discovering that Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) had raped Charity, Sarah pushed the surgeon to her death.
She was stunned when her grandmother took responsibility.
She was concerned that, if Sarah was sent down, she’d lose out on vital time with her daughter Leyla. The bigger issue is that, although Charity was surrogate during the baby’s gestation, she isn’t Sarah’s daughter at all.
Charity had actually fallen pregnant with Ross Barton’s (Michael Parr) child instead.

After being released on bail, Charity’s husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) couldn’t shake the idea that he was missing something. He was convinced that there was more to the story, though she gave him the cold shoulder and insisted that, if he couldn’t stand beside her, she’d rather not have him at all.
With something still niggling away at the back of his head, Mack plagued her for answers in today’s episode.

He expressed his belief that she’d purposely killed Todd in a bid to seek revenge for what she did, and rather than correct him, she went along with his story.
Mack was stunned and confronted Sarah over the revelation, though she kept quiet and didn’t give anything away.
She soon realised that he’d fabricated his own perception of events, and promised to “pull it together” so that investigating detective DS Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) didn’t realise she was lying.
