Against the backdrop of a changing global trade and economic environment, Chinese companies continue to expand their presence in international markets. On July 26, Kingpeng completed the acceptance inspection of a newly built research greenhouse project in Oman.
Sultan Qaboos University is Oman’s first comprehensive university and one of the country’s leading higher-education institutions. Kingpeng designed and built a research greenhouse complex for the university.

Overseas EPC project at Oman’s Top University
Construction began in March 2026 and comprises three standardized research greenhouses featuring a PC-PE composite structure designed for Middle Eastern climatic conditions.
Once operational, the project will provide facilities for agricultural research and the testing and development of local cultivation techniques. The greenhouses will be used to evaluate equipment and cultivation systems under local environmental conditions and develop cultivation protocols adapted to the region.

Technologies for extreme heat and arid conditions
With more than two decades of experience in protected-agriculture equipment, Kingpeng has worked on projects in a range of challenging environmental conditions. For the Oman project, the company developed an integrated solution addressing high temperatures, intense solar radiation, aridity and limited water availability, while meeting the environmental-control requirements of research facilities.
The greenhouse structures were adapted to improve resistance to high temperatures and ageing. Supporting systems, including shading, forced ventilation and temperature-control equipment, are designed to help maintain stable indoor conditions during periods of extreme heat.
Water-saving cultivation and automated management systems are also incorporated. The project includes nutrient film technique (NFT), ebb-and-flow seedling benches, intelligent environmental controllers and precision fertigation equipment. Water and nutrients can be supplied according to crop requirements, reducing unnecessary water and fertilizer use.
These systems are designed to support water-efficient cultivation under Oman’s climatic conditions while providing researchers with equipment for testing different cultivation methods.

Project completed in more than 100 days despite temperatures above 40°C
International EPC projects typically involve complex technical processes, local regulatory requirements and coordination between teams from different countries. The Oman project also faced construction conditions that included the Ramadan schedule and temperatures regularly exceeding 40°C at the site.
Kingpeng used a combination of local resources and Chinese construction personnel. Local contractors handled civil works, while Chinese technicians carried out the installation of the core greenhouse systems.
The project team applied standardized construction procedures and overseas project-management experience to coordinate the work and address the challenges associated with the local climate and construction environment. The project was completed and handed over more than 100 days after construction began.
According to Kingpeng , the project demonstrates its ability to deliver customized EPC solutions for protected-agriculture projects in challenging overseas environments.

More than 20 years of operations in the Middle East
The Oman project marks another step in Kingpeng’s expansion into the overseas EPC market. The company has been active in the Middle East for more than 20 years.
