Miller said police carried out 460 compulsory breath tests, with six drivers charged with drink-driving offences.
Seven drivers were charged with driving while forbidden, suspended or disqualified. Officers also issued 24 speeding infringement notices and another 41 infringement notices for other offences.
Five vehicles were impounded and one driver was summoned for sustained loss of traction.
Miller said checkpoints were set up for the safety of all road users.
“The best way to approach a checkpoint is driving legally and sober.”
